About that turtle...
"Oh, a very useful philosophical animal, your average tortoise. Outrunning metaphorical arrows, beating hares in races... very handy."
Small Gods, Terry Pratchett

The Origin of the Species

I love Terry Pratchett, and he wrote this hysterically funny book about the Great God Om trapped in a turtle's body. (Small Gods, read and enjoy.) And I think—hey, that's me (except for the great god part, and the hilarity, but, you know, otherwise.)
Not always smart, but generally slow and deliberate and turtle-like. But I have a brain; I use it sometimes, and I think more turtles should be given a chance to show their stuff. When we get around to it.

Kicking Spy Butt

I have a NEW favorite show! Alias isn't nearly as riviting as it used to be (despite the best.cliffhanger.ever.). So now I am watching Veronica Mars on UPN, which is seriously rocking. Continuity, smart babe, hot guys who may or may not be evil... sound familiar? Yeah, Season 1 Alias, I miss you too. Anyway, if you want to know what you've missed, the fabulously snarky folks at Television Without Pity have recapped every episode down to the tiniest detail for you--catch up here. And watch for the reruns this summer on your local UPN affiliate.

Quiz Time!

You're all familiar with those amazingly revealing Internet quizzes, right? Yup, I take them. Here are a few of my favorite results.

You Are From Neptune

You are dreamy and mystical, with a natural psychic ability. You love music, poetry, dance, and (most of all) the open sea. Your soul is filled with possibilities, and your heart overflows with compassion. You can be in a room full of friendly people and feel all alone. If you don't get carried away with one idea, your spiritual nature will see you through anything.

You're Taiwan!
Despite enormous setbacks, including the fact that most people refuse to recognize who you are or even that you exist at all, you've built yourself into quite a productive person.  You've got a little trouble maintaining a sense of personal order, but through the mess, you're still very industrious and have a small but pivotal impact on almost everyone you know, and even people you don't.  You make a whole lot of stuff.

You're Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!
by Lewis Carroll
After stumbling down the wrong turn in life, you've had your mind opened to a number of strange and curious things. As life grows curiouser and curiouser, you have to ask yourself what's real and what's the picture of illusion. Little is coming to your aid in discerning fantasy from fact, but the line between them is so blurry that it's starting not to matter. Be careful around rabbit holes and those who smile to much, and just avoid hat shops altogether.
